I’m a magazine designer and enjoy making things look cool. I also write compound, run-on sentences without shame or remorse. I’m Matt McClane, and I run this place.
Did you know that “making things look cool” is a lot more than just putting laser cannons on a dog or painting a picture of Samuel L. Jackson eating pancakes on a motorcycle? It’s really about connecting a reader (just like you) with the kind of informative, entertaining and enriching content that you crave like a rampaging smack addict in the 21st Century.
As a designer, the choices I make about typefaces, spacial relationships, photography, content emphasis and color usage can make you as happy as a fat kid trapped inside a pudding warehouse... or piss you off more than that time you mistook that can of super toxic battery acid you so carelessly keep on your bathroom sink for face wash.
No worries, though, I’ve done my best to make solid choices for more than 13 years, and delivering a strong message to readers through clear design brings me more joy than Jason Voorhees has when he’s meticulously slashing up idiot teens who’re obsessed with having pre-marital sex and doing enough drugs to open up their own pharmacy chain.
